E-Bike Trade-In Program Application
Welcome to the City of New York’s E-Bike Trade-In Program, managed by the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT).
Under this program, eligible food delivery workers who trade in an uncertified electric bike (e-bike), an uncertified electric moped (e-moped), or a gas-powered moped that cannot be legally registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will receive a new certified e-bike with a spare certified battery.
*Please note: there is a limited supply of e-bikes and batteries. There is no cost to participate in the program.
Application reopening: Eligible food delivery workers may now apply to be added to the program's waitlist. The application period will be open from to .
- have earned at least $1,500 in the past 12 months as a food delivery worker;
- live in one of the five boroughs of New York City;
- are at least 18 years of age; and
- own and use an eligible mobility device to complete food deliveries.
- A non-certified e-bike with its battery, including spare batteries, and battery charger;
- A non-certified e-moped with its battery, including spare batteries, and battery charger; or
- A moped that cannot be registered with the DMV and lacks a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
If selected, program participants will be able to trade in one eligible device and its associated batteries for a new e-bike with a spare battery.
If the number of eligible applicants is greater than the number of available
e-bikes, NYC DOT will select program participants through a lottery.
